Any Year Chevy Tahoe

If we’re cruising with a lot of gear, and we really want to have some legroom and comfort, there’s nothing like a big SUV. You can even add a tow package and haul a trailer full of toys! Some folks might balk at the gas mileage, but rated at 23 GPM on the highway, you can still swing more than 500 miles out of a tank! Without a doubt, a Tahoe is a great SUV to plan a road trip in!

Spark Your Road Trip with a Chevy Volt

Maybe that 23 MPG rating of the Tahoe is a little too much for your wallet, so you want better fuel economy. The Volt sits at the other far end of the spectrum, pulling a whopping 63 miles per gallon! It is still roomy enough for a two or three-person roadtrip, though you might sacrifice a little comfort. Still, the money you’ll save on gas will keep a few more bucks in your pocket for nicer meals and a hotel upgrade!

Cross the Country with a Chevy Traverse

The Traverse is a fun little SUV that is a more affordable option to make the trip. It boasts high safety ratings, and seating for 8, this is the perfect car for that cross country trip to Disneyland or Niagara Falls! With one of the most spacious cabins in its class you don’t have to leave anything behind!

Nothing Beats the 1957 Chevy Nomad

Ok, so now we’ll push away from the practical, and head to the iconic and whimsical! If you are taking a classic road trip, you need an iconic car. If you have access to an old ’57 Chevy Nomad and you aren’t Instagramming your way through a cross-country trip, you’re doing the world a disservice! The only thing we might recommend is a stereo upgrade!

The Trusty Old 1970’s Chevrolet Caprice Stationwagon

Taking iconic in a different direction, who wouldn’t want to Lampoon across the country in their own version of the Wagon Queen Family Truckster? Vinyl woodgrain sides, wire rims, and enough space to haul around everything but the kitchen sink!

Dreamy Chevy Conversion Vans

Finally, if you are really looking to be King of the Road without having to buy a real RV, there’s nothing like having a solid Chevy Conversion Van. So maybe we didn’t pick the most up to date conversion van on the market, but this one just reminds us of the old days riding for hours in dad’s van, playing travel checkers on that little magnetic board, while chowing down a bologna sandwich and a grocery store brand soda from the cooler in those comfy captain’s chairs. Great memories indeed!

The American road trip is a legendary rite of passage. As children, we hold these in fond memories, and as adults, they can become a crazy dream come true. The best thing about a road trip is that you get to plan how far you want to go, and how long you want to stay, which means that you can go at your own pace! Map a road trip for the future, and keep that in mind when you pick out your next car!
